Islet autoantibodies and residual beta-cell function in children with type 1 diabetes depending on age of manifestation

چکیده

BACKGROUND : Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) is an autoimmune disorder that leads to pancreatic β-cells destruction and progressive decrease of insulin secretion. Specific islet autoantibodies (AAbs) are the main diagnostic marker T1D. Residual β-cell function, as measured by C-peptide, has repeatedly been demonstrated be clinically important. AIM: To study frequency levels residual C-peptide secretion persistence AAbs in children with T1D different duration age manifestation disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS The ZnT8 (zinc transporter 8), IA-2 (Insulinoma Antigen 2), GAD (Glutamate Decarboxylase), IAA (insulin autoantibodies) were measured. Patients divided into 3 groups depending on (1st — <1 year, 2nd from 5 years, 3rd >5 years) (A prepubertal B puberty). RESULTS: median was 1.8 [0,8;3,9], 76.3% out 1333 patients seropositive, 40% had C-peptide. With disease there a AAbs+: 1st group 74%, 69%, 48%. In all groups, percentage positive one or more significantly higher at puberty. GADA ZnT8A common first year IA-2A observed same adolescents. age. An undetectable level (p<0.05): 1А 13% 1B 5%, 2А 51% 2B 14%, 3А 82% 3B 50%, reference range adolescents (p<0,05): 6% 44%, 2% 2b 25%, 11%. CONCLUSION: AAbs+ relatively about half them seropositive than years after manifestation. have high specificity for new-onset depends

Islet autoantibodies and residual beta cell function in type 1 diabetes children followed for 3-6 years.

AIMS To test if islet autoantibodies at diagnosis of type 1 diabetes (T1DM) and after 3-6 years with T1D predict residual beta-cell function (RBF) after 3-6 years with T1D. METHODS T1D children (n=260, median age at diagnosis 9.4, range 0.9-14.7 years) were tested for GAD65, IA-2, ZnT8R, ZnT8W and ZnT8Q autoantibodies (A) at diagnosis, and 3-6 years after diagnosis when also fasting and stimu...

Residual beta cell function at diagnosis of type 1 diabetes in children and adolescents varies with gender and season

BACKGROUND There are seasonal variations and gender differences in incidence of type 1 diabetes (T1D), metabolic control and responses to immune interventions at onset of the disease. We hypothesized that there are seasonal and gender differences in residual insulin secretion already at diagnosis of T1D. METHODS In 2005, a national study, the Better Diabetes Diagnosis, was started to classify...

Pancreatic Islet Autoantibodies as Predictors of Type 1 Diabetes in the Diabetes Prevention Trial–Type 1

OBJECTIVE There is limited information from large-scale prospective studies regarding the prediction of type 1 diabetes by specific types of pancreatic islet autoantibodies, either alone or in combination. Thus, we studied the extent to which specific autoantibodies are predictive of type 1 diabetes. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Two cohorts were derived from the first screening for islet cell ...
